QuickBooks Pro 2011 has a handful of helpful new functions that may entice some QuickBooks Pro 2010 users to upgrade, such as the ability to send email through webmail services such as Yahoo or Gmail instead of just through Outlook. It also now offers Customer Snapshots that gives you an overview of a customer's activities including useful information such as their most purchased item, payments received and balances. Intuit has also added a Collection Center and a more powerful search tool for locating records. The Collection Center can swiftly show overdue accounts and can batch-email late statements with a copy of the applicable invoice.
Ease of Use: 
We found QuickBooks to be one of the easiest accounting programs to use, from installation to reporting. This software comes with a tool to import data and a business creation wizard. Once you have inventory, customer, employee and vendor data entered it has an auto-fill function that can help you create invoices, pay vendors or manage employees easily.
Help & Support:
This software comes with help files and Intuit offers support online. On the Intuit website, you can find updates and upgrades, installation help, FAQs and troubleshooting. Fortunately, Intuit provides basic email support free of charge, such as help with registration, passwords or download issues. For telephone support, they offer two service plans – a month-by-month plan and an annual support plan. Their support plans include 100 GBs of online data backup, data recovery and 24/7 telephone support. If you are not interested in the yearly support plan, they do offer a per-incident option. A new support feature for 2011 is one hour of free support for new users, which is a great bonus.
Accounts Receivable: 
QuickBooks Pro can do just about everything we were looking to find and offers numerous customization tools that other software does not offer, such as highly customizable invoices and the ability to scan checks into the software. It also works with UPS and FedEx for shipping.
In the Collection Center you can quickly organize overdue and nearly due invoices. As we mentioned in the introduction, new to the 2011 version is the ability to send out overdue notices via webmail such as Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. Previous versions only supported Outlook or Outlook Express email notifications; this addition gives small businesses more flexibility.
Accounts Payable:
With the addition of a credit card processing service you can easily accept credit and debit cards. It can also print checks onto a variety of check paper stock and it can apply electronic signatures to them. You can easily perform batch check printing and track vendors.
Payroll:
Though QuickBooks Pro can manage employee data, the payroll service and direct deposit are additional services with an associated monthly fee. This accounting software works with Intuit’s payroll service and can manage all payroll functions including pay schedules, pay periods, statuses, transactions and tax information. Mac users can also manage payroll with PayCycle. Additionally, they offer an online payroll service called Payroll for QuickBooks Online. Their payroll service can configure taxes, create and print checks and manage direct deposit. It's also extremely affordable for small businesses.
The Employee Center can keep track of employee data such as contact information, payroll, transactions, email addresses, notes and attachments. You can easily run payroll reports and export employee data to Excel or Word.
Inventory: 
QuickBooks Pro does provide basic inventory management. This software can track inventory, set inventory levels, manage backorders, set re-order points and more. However, it still cannot support product images; we hope they add this feature in future versions. Currently, you can attach files to an inventory file, but it does not have a built-in tool for displaying images. If you need a more sophisticated inventory module and are a retail business, you may want to consider their point-of-sale product.
Banking:
This program is highly compatible and can import data from thousands of financial institutions. This means that you can securely download your bank credit card transactions and other financial transactions. Of course, like all other accounting programs additional fees apply for electronic transfers, electronic deposits and automatic payments, but the software is capable of handling these types of transactions.
Time Billing:
This accounting software can calculate time billing, including the ability to track time, mileage and expenses. It also includes a variety of reports for time spent on jobs and mileage per vehicle. To help keep your time billing accurate it can automatically link to job time schedules and load the information into an invoice.
Job Costing:
With this software you can track jobs, set them as active or inactive and create job estimates. It also provides numerous job cost reporting options; however, it does not seem to have the ability to drill down in a job report. For example, using some other products you can click on a customer name in a report and link to their profile or on an invoice number to access the actual invoice.
General Ledger:
QuickBooks Pro comes with a few general ledger reports, and it can create reports most often used by accountants such as an audit trail, a journal, a general ledger and tax reports. The general ledger reporting options are not extensive, but we feel they are sufficient for most small businesses. If you need traditional accounting functions, Intuit does offer an accountant version.
Fixed Assets: 
Intuit software can track fixed assets for tax and general inventory purposes. It can even track purchase price, whether the item was new or used at purchase time, sale price if you choose to sell and depreciated value for tax purposes. However, the Pro version does not include the fixed asset manager; this module is available in the accountant and enterprise editions only.
Conversion and Updates:
No matter what accounting software you want to import data from, QuickBooks can help make the import process as simple as possible. This accounting software can import data from Excel, Quicken, Microsoft Office Accounting, Peachtree and prior versions of QuickBooks. You can import data from prior versions, such as from any QuickBooks product 4.0 or later into current versions of QuickBooks Online Plus, Pro, Premier or Enterprise. QuickBooks 2010 for Mac can import files from Simple Start, Pro, Premier or the accountant editions. Since many loyal QuickBooks users upgrade every year, Intuit has created a tool for fast and easy conversions.
Reporting:
The newest version of QuickBooks Pro offers over 100 reporting options. You can customize the reports and drill down on details for further insight. If you need more reporting options or industry-specific reports, the Premier version offers over 150 reports that include reports specifically for contractors, manufacturers, professional services, retail stores and non-profits. Reports can be exported to Excel, and formatting and formulas export along with the data, which is a unique and convenient feature. They offer reports in a variety of categories including customer, sales, jobs, purchase, payroll, budget and inventory reports. Report layouts include lists, bar graphs and pie charts.
